Painting from a Dream

Painting from a Dream. Watercolor and gouache on 140 lb hot press watercolor paper. Fantasy pinup art.

Painting backed on wood. All you’ll need is a hammer, a nail, a wall to put it up on, and of course the painting.

It was weird. For the first time in my life, I had a dream of a painting.

I immediately had to draw it. Then I contacted Allie for the pose. This is when she did the Allie as Marilyn pose.

I wanted to paint from that live art session a few times before actually executing this painting. Plus, this is my first painting using just as much gouache as watercolor. I’m starting to really like gouache.

What does it mean? You tell me. I’m not a dream interpreter.

But, dreams are weird. As a kid, I loved the Peter Pan Disney movie. Rather than Big Ben though, a tower from Slovenia (last year’s vacation) popped up in my head.

So it was a mix of memories. Really good memories. And of course, Allie posing as Marilyn.
