Nirvana sucks ass

D is in our inner circle of friends. He’s one of the few who I’d be really pissed if he didn’t show up to my funeral. And also likewise, he’d be pissed if I didn’t show up to his.

He and I are passionate people. We love some stuff. We hate other stuff. We’re indifferent about other stuff.

He and I can also disagree. Even fervently. And continue to pour the other person more wine.

Because our disagreements don’t define our friendship.

That, my friends, is an aspect of a real friendship. You can be yourself. You can even show the worst aspects of yourself. And still be friends.

Hate, is a negative aspect. It’s not something I want to be known for.

I want you to remember me for my works. Not for what I hated.

Nirvana is in D’s top 10 band list. He knows I hate them with a passion.

In fact, I once told him that if I had Hitler, Stalin, and Kurt Cobain in the room with me and only two bullets, I’d shoot Kurt Cobain twice.

Was I joking?

Back when I had a social media accounts…

Back when I had social media accounts, Rivelino and I followed each other. He doesn’t follow a lot of people and I was one of the few. Because, I was one of the few people there who actually had original ideas.

I had a good account. I got sick of social media though. It’s a serious time sink and often keeps you from getting shit done.

So, I made the decision to delete it all. (Well, I was banned from one of them. But that’s another story for another day).

Anyways, he’s also a controversial figure. He says a lot of stuff that offends people. In droves.

I often agreed with him. I often disagreed with him too. But overall, sometimes, he’d absolutely nail it when most of those accounts were too chickenshit to say anything that might offend people.

So plus one to Rivelino. He said offensive stuff in a world full of easily offended dorks.

Back to Nirvana, I noticed this too. Nirvana hated being men. Not only did they hate being men, they wanted you to hate being a man too (assuming you’re male).

So fuck them. Their music sucked anyways.

Their music was garbage and they had no talent. If you disagree, I seriously question your musical taste.

Look at those dorks. Ashamed to be men.

Sure, it’s only one picture. But the body language says it all.

Look at a hundred of pictures of Nirvana. Then look at a hundred pictures of someone cool like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, or Deep Purple.

The body language says it all.

Does body language matter? Big time! Only a complete and utter fool will disagree.

If you own anything of Nirvana, do yourself a favor and throw it in the trash. And buy some real music.

Legacy

The rock star died after Nirvana. Nirvana made rock music so uncool that the cool kids switched over to hip hop or country.

There was a brief dead cat bounce with Brit Pop, but that’s all it was for rock music – a dead cat bounce. And needless to say, you know what Brit Pop was a reaction against, right? You guess it – grunge.

Now I ask today’s cool kids who they listen to. It’s still hip hop or country to this day. Or when they listen to a rock band, it’s someone from the 80s or before. AC-DC. Aerosmith. Led Zeppelin. Etc.

Nirvana still sells albums but it’s almost always to the dweebs.

And if you’re reading this D, admit it. I’m right.

  1. I have never been much a fan of Nirvana. Their only barely passable tracks are “Smells like Teen Spirit” and “Come as You Are”, but neither of ’em are in my Spotify playlists.

  2. Keep in mind how young they were and they absolutely made some music that is hard to listen to. That said, In Utero
has some pretty splendid moments and “Here we are now entertain us” is a moment of greatness if I have ever heard one.

And about their mannerisms and that other stuff………heroine Roman……I don’t recall seeing a “healthy” or “full” looking
Kurt Cobain. He was a tortured soul and a heck of a front man when he actually tried.

    1. We are supposed to have strong opinions about bands, especially musicians about other musicians.

What I don’t like – when people say “oh, I like every kind of music.”

No you don’t. Nobody does. Nobody who ever lived likes every kind of music. It’s not possible to like every kind of music.

I immediately reply something along the lines of “how about Black Metal? Bavarian Oompah music? Nazi punk? Straight Edge? Emo? Screamo? Math rock? Abstract Jazz?”

Then watch that person look like an idiot.

What I’m getting at Marcell is that feel free to have strong opinions about art. Feel free to love some stuff. Hate other stuff.

Passion should be encouraged in today’s modern world of “whatever you do, don’t offend anyone.”

I don’t mind my art being loved or hated. What I don’t want is to be ignored.

Hate is underrated. I had a feminist awhile back call my artwork “porn.” I now use that as a selling point.

Oh and welcome! I’m really enjoying seeing you here. 🙂

  3. I think that Kurt was on his way out of the music world. The rumor was that he would have gotten into writing more than playing.

I think that Nirvana didn’t age well. I treat them as if they were pebble on the road of life. It was an interesting experience to hear them as a junior high kid who hated life but I never understood them. I didnt like junkies and drug folks, still don’t. I am not that emotional and I think Kurt was a bit of a puss that couldn’t stand up to Courtney, among others.

    1. Yeah. He was a puss and he hated masculine men, which blazed the trail for rock music turning into the SJW garbage it is today. So I blame him for today’s cultural mess.

Of all things, the movie “The Wrestler” references exactly this. If I remember correctly, it was during the strip club scene.

Rock music never recovered. When I ask the cool kids who they like, they always cite pre-Nirvana bands. Like for instance, when Diana was modeling for me (I always let the models choose the music), she had on mostly AC-DC.
